If you feel betrayed by James Frey, you should get your money back? What?

I realize this isn’t a scientific poll, but excuse me, what? The fact that even ONE person feels entitled to a refund on this book because it’s not 100% truthful makes me want to scream. Can you walk into Borders and say “Hey, I read this book and got my dirty fingerprints all over it and there’s probably crumbs and grease spots on every other page, but it turns out I didn’t like it. Can I have my money back?” No. So why is this any different? You take a chance on books. If you can’t handle that risk, go to the library.

I have a feeling that there is a large, angry mob of mouthbreathers sitting in a law firm’s conference room, trying to craft a civil suit.

The margin seems to be widening by the minute. Go here, today January 27, 2006 only, to watch the action. I’ll try to get a screen cap at the end of the day to see what the final results were. And, if you feel so inclined, please go vote for sanity. Again, not an official scientific poll, but an enlightening one nonetheless.

“Mouthbreathers.” One of my favorite terms!
