Well, there’s this great interview with the producers from EW. A highlight:

According to the good-humored exec producers, they always knew they weren’t exactly making The West Wing, but they never anticipated the trouncing they took from critics last season. ”I’ve literally made a many, many s—ty movie in my career, and I’ve never gotten such hateful reviews,” says Rosenberg (Kangaroo Jack, Con Air). ”To me, the show’s a cardigan sweater. It’s a Joni Mitchell record on a rainy day. It’s a cup of hot chocolate. You may not necessarily like hot chocolate or Joni Mitchell or cardigan sweaters, but why would you violently hate hot chocolate and Joni Mitchell and cardigan sweaters? There are shows like Who Wants to Marry My Cousin’s Wife? that got better reviews than October Road. It’s a cozy show about a writer who comes back to his hometown and falls back in love. You would think we were decapitating bunny rabbits. Like it was Michael Vick’s 101 Dalmatians.”

Then there’s Ryan Adams. He apparently loves this show so much that he’s recorded music specifically for it AND made a music video with them. I knew I liked that Ryan Adams, endorsements by Jesse Malin and Eric Danton aside.

HOORAY! It’s time for my first Elf viewing of the season!

I love this movie so much but, like the best Christmas songs, it’s something that can only be enjoyed in the season.

In fact, it may be time for a new Christmas mix. Hooray!

1. Health insurance
2. 911
3. The good people who drive ambulances for Cataldo.

It just wouldn’t be a holiday without some sort of emergency! We went to the Cape, had a great time, came home. I sat on the chair with my laptop to watch the last half of Grey’s and … that’s all I remember until I started to focus on the 3 paramedics and 2 firemen standing in my living room. My first conscious ambulance trip later and we were at the hospital. Then 3 hours there.

Now, I’m home and exhausted but wired.

Thanks, Cataldo and thanks, Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

The story of my new name on my license will have to wait. It’s awesome.

It’s been a hard year so I don’t want to go into the whole “thankful” thing because I’ll just get depressed.

So here, have this picture of Spongebob Squarepants terrorizing the city:

(PS: Poor Legally Blonde appears to have outfitted themselves in the gift shop)

EDIT: Fixed the link to Joann’s site. Ooops.

My awesome friend Joann is planning to go to Chennai, India in January for two weeks with Global Volunteers.

GV is entirely funded by volunteers and donations so the fee is a little steep. She’s looking for help in raising $3500 and that’s what her website is about. She’s really hoping to get sellable items, too, which is really cool. So if you have an old chair or table or weird gadget sitting in your closet that you want to get rid of but just haven’t gotten around to it, see if you can get it to Joann (she’s in CT) or stick it on Craigslist and donate the money. See, simple! You clear out your clutter and Joann is just that much closer to her goal.

Check it out, either now from this link or later from the link in the bar on the right, and read all about why she’s doing this and what she’ll be doing.

Go Joann!

My local stop and shop now has these handheld scanner guns. You scan your store card at the kiosk, grab a scanner, and scan your items as you shop. You can bag as you go so at the end, you just scan the gun at the register, pay, and that’s it! Next time I’m going to bring my reusable bags, set them up in the cart, then toss stuff in as I go.

Best shopping trip EVER.

I can’t remember what they were called, though, and can’t find any reference to it on the internet.

Please, enjoy this link until I get my brain back from the hypotonic solution labeled ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY that it’s currently steeping in.

World Diabetes Day - November 14

There are a lot of events happening around it, but I think the coolest are the Blue Monuments. So on Wednesday wear your blue shirt and look to the skyline and think about those of us with lame pancreases. :)

Can’t wait to whip this one out! God help me if I get pulled over. They’ll preemptively haul me in.

Also, I am a library card holder once again. That little bar on the right will tell you what books I currently have out to read.
