Neighbors. I implore you. Clear your walkways! You may think it’s all fine because, after all, you can walk from your door to the door of your behemoth automobile with no problem! Well, it’s not. Especially when you live alongside a major thoroughfare. It’s no fun to be tiptoeing and sliding along an icy sidewalk and hit a waist-deep wall of snow that you then have to get around to walk in the street. With cars whizzing by doing 40.
The upshot of this is that I got new boots! Warm cozy water-resistant ice-gripping boots. Guess we really have assimilated into commuter culture with our boots and our “real shoes” in our bags. Fashion be damned, it’s COLD out there. I laugh when I think of complaining about walking from the garage to the office. It was a state lot, they plowed it and salted it! I could wear one pair of shoes all day!
But then after cursing the snow most of the day, I came home and read Lisa’s post about Molly’s day in the snow and the pictures just melted my heart. Look at the joy in her face and in her step!
I’ll try to remember that as we’re digging Nate’s car out because we need groceries. Y’know, after it’s been sitting all day in the melting-refreezing snow.
Edited: SEE? THIS is why people need to get off their asses and shovel their damn walks.
